The Braddock Sporting Complex
This project transformed an underused site into an inclusive space where youth are empowered through play, creativity, and mentorship. Designed to support healing and break cycles of violence, the project uses sports and art as tools for connection, leadership, and community resilience.
Trash Talk:
Turning Waste Into a Cleaner Future
This project addresses litter as a highly visible and preventable source of pollution in the Spring Creek Watershed, focusing on high-density areas of State College. By linking waste behavior, pedestrian flow, and urban infrastructure, the proposal introduces community-centered design interventions that promote sustainable disposal, increase awareness, and protect watershed health through a systems-based approach.
Millenium Science Complex: Meadow Garden
This landscape celebrates native meadow ecologies through an integrated mosaic of prairie, mesic, and wetland communities. Seasonal color and habitat support pollinators and wildlife, while rain gardens and wetlands manage stormwater and enhance ecological function. Meandering paths and eco-lawn areas create an immersive, sustainable environment where people and nature coexist in balance.
Drift & Dock Pier
Designed in direct response to community needs, this pier design creates a waterfront space that is truly by the people and for the people. By strengthening the relationship between the community and the water, the design establishes a vibrant, inclusive destination that reflects local identity and collective pride.
Millenium Science Complex: Tree Plaza
This Urban Treed Plaza is designed to integrate trees into a hardscape setting while supporting their health and longevity. Its layout, paving, and below-ground root systems are carefully planned to provide adequate soil volume, aeration, and water management. Tree selection and placement define space, create shade, support local wildlife, and enhance the campus environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Millenium Science Complex: Pollinator Garden
This project explores the design of an intimate, mixed pollinator garden at Penn State’s Millennium Science Complex, integrating native plant communities with human-centered spaces for learning, rest, and observation. Through a layered planting strategy and seasonally responsive plant palette, the garden supports complete pollinator life cycles while creating a welcoming, ADA-accessible environment that balances ecological performance with aesthetic clarity.
